FAQ - Beet Juice Extract (BJE)
Skip Navigation LinksHome > FAQs > Beet Juice Extract (BJE)

  1. What is Beet Juice Extract?

Beet Juice Extract (BJE) is a liquid fertilizer containing a high concentration of sugarbeet molasses and plant extract proteins. It has a fertilizer rating of 18-0-5. Although it is not classed as a pesticide, it is thought to carry some inhibitory effect on the growth of some weed varieties.

  2. How does it work?

This organic protein rich mixture will improve microbial activity in poor soils and at the same time help to weaken weeds as protein concentration accumulates in the soil, allowing your grass to thicken and out-compete invasive weeds. Beet Juice makes establishment of new weed seeds very difficult once the lawn is healthy and growing vigorously.

  3. What else can you expect from your lawn when using this product?

This organic fertilizer improves soil composition by increasing microbial activity and enhancing thatch breakdown. The fertilizers added to the Beet Juice Extract produce fantastic lush growth and very healthy lawns. Rain does not wash away the active ingredients in BJE.

  4. When and how do I get started?

Fertilizing should begin early in the growing season with existing healthy lawns when soil temperature is above 5 degrees Celsius and water is adequate. The type and quantity of fertilizer depends entirely on the condition of your lawn and soil and should be determined by a professional applicator. You can get a balanced fertilizer package by giving Green Circles a call: 416-993-5296 or sign up on page 2 of this season's contract.
