FAQ - Fiesta

  1. What is it?

Fiesta is an iron based selective organic herbicide.

  2. How does it differ from traditional products?

Fiesta is classified as a class 11 pesticide in the province of Ontario, otherwise called a biopesticide. Fiesta is not a traditional herbicide such as Mecoprop or 2,4-D (class 8 banned pesticides) which both relied on altering hormone pathways to destroy weeds. Fiesta uses high dose chelated iron to essentially overdose wide leafed plants and destroy them.

  3. How does it work?

The iron based solution is absorbed by the leaves of the weeds and oxidize the tissues of the plant turning it purplely/black. Reapplication after 3 weeks ensures adequate absorption and tissue damage to the weed.

  4. What else can you expect from your lawn when using this product?

Four applications per season (2 fall and 2 spring) provide good cosmetic results. Damage to grass can be seen if used more than 6 times per season. It will provide good control of dandelion, thistle, plantain, and moss, and other weed varieties to a lesser extent. Care should be taken to avoid spraying desired plants around gardens.

  5. When and how do I get started?

Fiesta can be applied any time weeds are actively growing and should be reapplied at 3 weeks for best results. Just give us a call: 416-993-5296 or sign up on page 2 of this season's contract.
