What is slow release fertilizer?
Granular slow release fertilizers release nutrients to plants over time, in contrast
to water soluble conventional fertilizers which typically result in a large amount
of the nutrient being lost to leaching and evaporation. The main advantage of slow
release fertilizers are improved crop yields and quality. In addition, slow release
fertilizers result in reduced environmental damage from leaching of nutrients into
water and gas emissions compared with water soluble conventional fertilizers.

What is SCU?
Sulphur coated urea (SCU) fertilizer is slow release fertilizer that is made by
coating urea with sulphur and wax that increases nitrogen efficiency, improves plant
growth and reduces water pollution. Higher percentages of SCU allow nitrogen to
be made available to the plant for a longer period of time.

How does it work?
Nitrogen (N) Phosphorus (P) and Potassium (K) are the main elements of synthetic
ferilizer. Nitrogen greens up your lawn and helps it grow. Phosphorous stimulates
root growth. Roots are critical to absorption of nutrients from the soil. Potassium
helps grass withstand disease and drought by improving the structural strength of
the grass.

What can you expect from your lawn when using this product?
When using a synthetic fertilizer you can expect a quick and noticeable change in
plant growth and other qualities.

When and how do I get started?
Fertilizing should begin early in the growing season with existing healthy lawns
when soil temperature is above 5 degrees Celsius and water is adequate. The type
and quantity of fertilizer depends entirely on the condition of your lawn and soil
